Definition

ISO-11179 Definition

A database and data warehouse feature that restricts which rows a user or role can query based on policy rules evaluated at query time, enabling fine-grained access control where different users see different subsets of data in the same table. In healthcare data platforms, row-level security is used to restrict analysts to data for members or patients within their assigned population, limit provider-facing views to their own patient panels, and enforce geographic or business unit data boundaries.
