The annual process by which health plans submit HEDIS measure results to NCQA, CMS, state Medicaid agencies, and commercial purchasers following specified data submission formats, audit requirements, and deadlines. HEDIS data submission for Medicare Advantage plans occurs in June with preliminary rates, followed by final rates after audit. Data submission errors, late submission, or audit findings of non-compliance can result in measure scores being suppressed or replaced with plan-specific penalty rates.
