Definition

ISO-11179 Definition

The dollar amount of patient financial responsibility collected at the time of service, including copayments, deductibles, and prior balance payments, before the claim is submitted to the payer. Point-of-service collection rate is a revenue cycle performance metric because collecting patient responsibility at time of service is significantly more cost-effective than post-service billing and collection.
