The descriptive name of the employer group, union, association, or plan sponsor under whose group health insurance contract a member is enrolled. Member group name is used alongside the group number to identify the sponsoring organization in enrollment and billing systems. In self-funded employer plans, the group name identifies the employer as the plan sponsor and risk-bearing entity.
