A HEDIS measure assessing the percentage of members 45-75 years old who had appropriate screening for colorectal cancer using one of several accepted methods including annual fecal occult blood testing or FIT, FIT-DNA testing every 1-3 years, flexible sigmoidoscopy every 5 years, CT colonography every 5 years, or colonoscopy every 10 years. COL is a high-weight HEDIS measure and CMS Star Rating indicator with significant variation in screening rates across populations and health plans.
