The standardized clinical terminology or coding system from which a value set draws its codes, such as ICD-10-CM for diagnosis codes, CPT for procedure codes, HCPCS for supply and service codes, NDC for drug codes, LOINC for laboratory and clinical observation codes, or SNOMED CT for clinical concepts. Quality measure value sets specify the code system for each included code, enabling accurate code lookup and preventing mismatches between code systems with overlapping numeric ranges.
